We are one of only a few real general engineering shops left in Auckland as most have closed or turned to specialize in a product or service.Having a background of contract maintenance and supplying fabricated components to the freezing works industry for many years,we have amassed a huge repertoire of engineering skills needed to execute the demand of repairing sudden break downs of plant and machinery as well as being involved in new structural projects and R&D within the industry.
With the closure of the big three freezing works,we were soon involved in the building industry and still are involved with many domestic and several large construction firms,supplying small to medium structural components and specializing in remedial site jobs and the one off difficult projects.One of our few stable products is the manufacture of Aluminium goals for all sports which we supply to Auckland City Parks and many schools in the greater Auckland area.
Originally named Otahuhu Blacksmiths and welders in the early 1960,s This firm was started by Mac Mollet and Laurie Vitali. Primarily the bulk of the work was to service the big three freezing works located close by , but also included work for the local borough council and challenge phosphate a local fertiliser manufacturing plant.I started working here in 1973 and by then Mac had decided to call it a day and so Laurie took over the business and embarked on a huge project of building a brand new workshop on a section he had bought at the existing shed/workshop.He also gave the business new name of Blackweld Engineers ltd and it has been known as that untill i bought the business of Laurie and Alma in the beginning of 2016,the only change being it is now Blackweld Engineers 2015 Ltd.
